Altona North Library

The Altona North Library project involved extensive consultation with council and library staff to create an iconic, flexible and environmentally sustainable facility which responds to its historical context. The building comprises modern library facilities, a café, central courtyard and community meeting rooms.

Key ESD initiatives include thermal massing, night purging, solar tubes, solar hot water, rainwater tanks and WELS rated fixtures and fittings. Optimum solar control is achieved using angular facades, insulated double glazing and automated retractable awnings
