Altona North Library

Hobsons Bay City Council commissioned Haskell Architects to design a new state-of-the-art library and community facility in Altona North.  Extensive consultation was required with both Council and library staff to create an iconic, flexible and environmentally sustainable facility which responds to its historical context. The building comprises modern library facilities, a café, central courtyard and community meeting rooms.

The North facade was designed to be a striking introduction for the community. The glazing at street level draws passers-by to the interior and the movement within the building invites the public to share in the library experience.
