Haskell ArchitectsA sensitive refurbishment and extension has renewed the existing school building while preserving the strong heritage character that defines Hawthorn West Primary School. The design carefully integrates contemporary learning spaces and accessibility upgrades with the existing fabric, allowing new interventions to sit comfortably alongside the original architecture. Improvements to circulation, access and internal planning enhance the day-to-day functionality of the building while maintaining its established identity.
Flexible learning environments support contemporary teaching approaches and evolving educational needs, while the considered treatment of the existing building ensures its character remains central to the project. The result is a respectful renewal that improves accessibility and functionality while extending the life of an important part of the school campus.
