Altona Meadows Library Alterations

Alterations & additions to the existing community library facility (Haskell Architects’ original building) for Hobsons Bay City Council.

Haskell Architects were engaged by Hobsons Bay City Council to design a new library for Altona Meadows. Completed in 2005, the Altona Meadows Library was envisaged as a contemporary library and hub of community services. At the time it offered the latest in library technology and was designed to provide services for patrons of the community. Nearly twenty years later, we were approached by Council to give the library a ‘refresh’. Our original design allowed us to easily adapt and update the spaces to suit contemporary requirements. The refurbishment offers technology pods, a makerspace, media podcasting space, and community meeting/presentation space, as well as training and meeting rooms, remote work and study spaces and quiet pods.
